"The recording of Eric Taylor's Watermelon release involved a whole lot of nerve. As the engineer and co-producer, I had to be ready at all times, because Eric relies on magic, and magic can't be called up just any time. Eric and the band had to be comfortable, yet unfamiliar enough with the arrangements to create a certain amount of tension that would hopefully release in the performance of the songs.
If they got too rehearsed, then the magic would not come. I feel like we captured on that record the raw vitality that is Eric Taylor. It is honestly one of my favorite records that I have put my name on, and for that matter, one of my favorite records, period."
